Purpose of the role:
To provide technical consultancy and design covering all areas of Storage within the Mid Range environments, working for both internal and external customers. Be involved in the design of Storage solutions, but also in the modifying or adapting of existing designs.
- Provide Storage design for the Storage infrastructure to be used in BT data centres for hosting internal applications
- Provide technical Storage design for internal applications, covering all aspects of Storage hardware and software technologies.
- Provide storage infrastructure designs to support the BT Design rollout of the Virtual Data Centre (VDC) Services.
- To act as a Lead for the Storage design team in large projects.
- Review the solution designs produced by other teams, modifying or adapting them to fix with the BT Design strategy as appropriate.
- Works with the LOBs and external clients to enable the technical development of Storage solutions to meet the business and customer requirements.
- To liaise with suppliers (Internal and external).
- To actively support, at all times, company policy and best practices in the area of security, with particular emphasis on the protection of sensitive customer information.
- Work on Storage solutions for BT Design in major external projects providing technical consultancy to the commercial teams in BT Retail and Global Services
Key responsibilities:

Storage design for custom client solutions using EMC/HP/NetApp Qualifications Essential skills & experience
Able to gather requirements and create/modify design solutions for both internal and external customers, considering all aspects of design ie, Storage type, storage network, interface into data centre network, BC/DR requirements, performance and application capability.
The BT representation on Storage design for external contracts.
Able to analyse failing solutions and pre-empt future failure where technology allows and provide detailed documented reports for both Internal and External customers.
Develop customer relations both internal and external to ensure the designs meet the customer requirements.
Ensuring BT software is fully compliant with storage industry standards and processes.
Extensive experience in a data centre environment
