Yahoo! Inc. is looking for a Visual Designer to join the User Experience Design team within Yahoo! Answers. As Visual Designer you will work closely with other designers, usability researchers, producers, web developers, and engineers to develop the visual presentation for Yahoo! Answers.
Responsibilities
· Participate in concept development and design ideation
· Create visual designs that address business, brand, market, and user requirements, including the design and production of screen layouts, color palettes, typography, user interface elements
· Produce design specifications, storyboards, scenarios, design prototypes
· Successfully communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of user centered design process
· Collaborate with the design team to refine the user experience
· Work with web developers and engineers to deliver the final product
· Assist in project coordination across functional teams

· Candidates must have a solid understanding of user-centered design principles, careful attention to detail, as well as ability to grasp multiple product requirements
· Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media Design or other visual arts
· Ideally 1-2 years experience as a key member of a UI team participating in the complete product development lifecycle of several successfully launched web and/or software applications
· Must demonstrate strong design skills including screen layouts, information design, and typography, and must have a great eye for detail
· Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional groups
· Ability to prioritize and manage work to adhere to critical project timelines
· Must have solid grasp of graphic and web design principles and good understanding of current web technologies, as well as an understanding of accessibility.
· Keen interest in other user experience disciplines – interaction design, information architecture, copywriting and user research.
Optional
· Experience with Agile development methods
· Experience working on Community or UGC related products
· Ability to create HTML prototypes for user research. |
