Trade Research Manager
- To deliver operational and tactical qualitative and quantitative traditional research to support sales from concept stage to conclusion often in conjunction with client need
- Present research both internally and externally to clients/ agencies
- Manage research contracts/negotiations and relationships with external suppliers and get the best value for Yahoo!
- Mentor /coach a research exec
- First point of contact for all syndicated sources and knowing which best to use for business requirements (ie adspend, measurement sources and market reports)
- Lead training on all syndicated sources of information used to support advertising sales
- Become confident in supporting global sales pitches with EU data and further afield over time
- Manage ad effectiveness studies for the UK and help co-ordinate multi-country studies that include the UK
- Support EU research initiatives that benefit the UK market

- Ability to run research projects from beginning to end - excellent project management
- Experience with online questionnaire design and technical implementation
- Confident presentation skills with presenting to up to 100 people
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to pro-actively think of solutions to keep momentum
- Strong analytical capabilities and a passion for technology and media is a must
- Traditional media research knowledge needed with an advanced knowledge of syndicated online measurement sources: comScore, Nielsen, Hitwise, NMR, TGI etc…
- Excellent overall knowledge and experience (business accumen) of online industry – including mobile, video and other emerging technologies is ideal
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
- Second European language ideal, business english essential
- Ability to work flexibly across a range of research projects as required
- Advanced skills in SPSS or similar statistical analytical software in particular crosstab, cluster and correspandance through verifiable work experience
- Advanced excel, powerpoint, word (office 2003 and above) experience: in particular being able to make brilliant stories and convince our B2B clients we are leaders in advertising research

Key competencies :
- Researcher with demonstrable experience working within a media environment - media owner and/or media agency
- Experience with coaching junior researchers
- Experience with running research in a consultative capacity
- Hands on experience of conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research projects
- Experience with all types of media research and methodologies used
- Confident in oneself and own opinion with enough busines accument to be able to voice own opinion in front of all levels of seniority
- Can think laterally and take own intiative with turning ideas or suggestions into something concrete
- Able to aggregate complex results into feasible and business relevant insights
- To be able to identify which sources will best answer given questions, and be able to tell a great story in a compelling way from the insights
- To be able to put together research presentations of high standard, where possible using new or imaginative ways of communicating insights or analysis
