Morgan Stanley is seeking a Vice President/Team Manager to manage its European IRCC Derivative Confirmation Drafting and Dispatch and to globally manage the IR Derivatives Documentation process within IRCC Derivative Operations. This role will report to the global head of IRCC Derivative Documentation. The candidate will be located in London.
In addition to management of the drafting and dispatch functions and resources in Europe and supervision of global Rates Derivative Documentation, the VP will be responsible for supervision and oversight of IRCC functions covered in our India Vendor and Captive locations, including, but not limited to retrievals and affirmation, the monitoring of SLA performance and enforcement, escalation and regular process review.
Role Activities: Internal: • People management and supervision of the European IRCC Drafting team in London • Influence, shape and execute the global IR Derivative Documentation business plan and process model • Serve as main escalation point for all IRCC Documentation functions performed in near and far shore locations in EMEA • Partner with IRCC Documentation management, and the global Front to Back Operations teams to establish a globally consistent, controlled process for the support of IRCC Derivatives • Ensure 100% compliance with internal and external performance targets, including, but not limited to, FRB targets • Operations point person for ongoing documentation system renovation projects. • Monthly review of European Documentation cost allocations. • SOX pack owner for European Documentation.
External: • Represent Morgan Stanley on Industry working groups and on client visits as a subject matter expert in Derivative Documentation • Conduct monthly reviews with our Vendor Delivery Manager (India), covering performance, compliance with service levels and any operational issues • Establish, and agree with Senior Management, escalation procedures for vendor service providers
Control • Enforces Firm standards for all services • Troubleshoots the most complex or sensitive issues, which may be client related • Broad knowledge across multiple processes, systems, markets and instruments in addition to detailed knowledge of several key products/processes • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of job-related operational/compliance procedures and inter-dependencies with other teams in order to mitigate operational risk • May include gathering requirements, establishing timelines, and assessing return on investments on projects/initiatives • May lead multiple projects/processes at the same time, without close supervision. • Makes material decisions regarding risk, control, process and policy. • Challenges assumptions, enforces consistent standards and champions new ideas.
Commercial • Acts as the voice for Morgan Stanley, providing exemplary client service and educating clients in their understanding of Firm policy and procedures. • May build relationships with outside firms to improve quality and productivity of work and projects across the organisation. Leverages resources across the organization and garners support and cooperation across areas. • Escalates and coordinates decision making across the franchise as required. • Delivers integrated, effective decisions spanning Operations departments or divisions as required. • Proactively identifies opportunities to improve functions with significant impact across departments. Identifies opportunities for change, and implements initiatives to improve processes within a functional area. • Is a thought leader in Operations-may be involved at senior levels and with the BU in developing the planning, strategy and high level solutions for Operations and the Firm’s businesses. • May contribute to, or own and develop the business plan/budget and strategic vision for a group of specialists or specialist function. • Engages stakeholders in the decision-making process and establishes clear and measurable goals (and metrics) by which to track and monitor progress. • Does not compromise control to comply with client request. Challenge a client and say ‘no’ while maintaining a good relationship and high levels of service.
People • Sets the example for teamwork and relationship building across Operations areas and the franchise. Coach’s peers and subordinates in these skills as required. • May provide project management leadership and/or support to new or extended business units. |

• Extensive experience in financial industry in Operations processing roles • Thorough knowledge of ISDA Definitions and Documentation process • Technical understanding of transaction lifecycle in IRCC Derivatives • Involvement in Derivatives Industry initiatives via working groups, advisory groups or panel discussions • Strong listening and verbal/written communications skills • Proven ability to work across global departments to build credibility and strong relationships • Experience in external client interaction with strong network among industry partners would be an advantage • Demonstrated leadership in setting strategy for commerciality, control processes and people development • Proven staff manager for technical and diverse personnel |
