Develop and maintain code base on EU Sports property. The candidate will be part of the Sports Engineering team located in London (UK). The team is in charge of supporting the EU Sports Product maintenance, feature delivery and other engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
The candidate will be part of a team responsible for the back-end systems primarily for the EU Sports product in five European markets. Based on delivery targets set by programme management and engineering standards defined by engineering management, the candidate will work on the tasks assigned to them, communicate and seek to resolve blocking issues, and participate in daily stand-ups and other regular planning meetings.
The candidate will:
Investigate, describe and solve the issues assigned
Track and provide visibility on assigned tasks
Raise issues to team leader
Be proactive and conscientious
Be comfortable with a mature enterprise release process. |

1. Extensive software development experience in more than one programming language
2. Excellent knowledge of Linux/BSD, extensive Perl or PHP, Apache, MySQL.
3. Good knowledge of OOP, TDD, software patterns, caching, performance, security, high availability, Web Services, TCP/IP, HTTP, SCM, Continuous Integration.
4. Interest in and aptitude for troubleshooting and bug-fixing on large, business critical systems
5. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, especially with regards to working with colleagues abroad.
6. Ability to estimate, plan and execute work according to agreed objectives in the context of a geographically diverse team.
7. Passion for the Internet industry and delivering a competitive product.
Desirable
1. Ability to communicate effectively with customers.
2. Ability to speak a foreign language such as French, Spanish, Italian, German, Arabic, Chinese.
3. Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
4. Knowledge of Javascript, HTML, CSS, SEO.
5. Understand Internationalisation, Localisation, Accessibility.
6. Knowledge of sport
