Senior Manager Commercial Analysis

Job Purpose
To conceive and conduct the highest quality commercial and market analysis to drive asset valuation and investment decisions within a Franchise or product area with the objective of improving decision making and strategy setting in the Global Vaccine Center of Excellence (GVCOE).

Responsibilities
The Senior Manager Commercial Analysis is responsible for a portfolio of vaccines brands, aligned with our franchises:
• Develop a sound understanding and command of the assigned Franchise in respect to products, markets and their dynamics, evolution, opportunities and challenges etc.
• Provide input to the formulation of product and disease area commercial strategies in conjunction with global commercial teams to ensure that maximum commercial return is obtained from the development and marketing of products and investments.
• Fully leverage all market, competitor and product information to produce objective analysis of market drivers, the competitive environment and trends in order to provide an appropriate future context for today’s investment and strategy
• To play an active role in the Annual Brand Planning process and ensure that commercial insights are used to inform the strategic brand plans
• Generate regular and ad hoc analyses and reports including:
Developing forecasting models and analyses of Forecast and Budget submissions
Monthly sales analyses
Specific evaluations of new business opportunities
Performance monitoring for key brands (tracking of Key Performance Indicators)
Country dashboards
• Partner/coordinate with the corresponding Market Research Senior Manager (MRSM) to ensure that Market Research is used effectively to address knowledge gaps for the respective portfolio of brands and that MR insights are used to inform decision making and strategy setting in the GVCoE
• Maintain a close working relationship with key Local Operating Companies (LOCs) in order to better understand the key challenges and opportunities in the trading environment of those LOCs
• Effectively gather, collate, analyse, interpret and communicate the global Long Range Forecast for Vaccines
• Maintain a close working relationship with the Global Commercial Group he/she has been aligned to in order to better understand the key challenges and opportunities facing them
• Identify appropriate 3rd party data sources, where necessary, in order to improve the quality of specific ad hoc analyses
• Partner with Knowledge Center (India) staff as appropriate to ensure effectiveness and efficiency
• Contribute to the transfer and sharing of knowledge and information across Commercial Analysis & Strategic Planning

A Senior Manager Commercial Analysis in the GVCoE should be able to:
• Influence GVCoE colleagues, country Vaccines Business Unit directors, GSK LOC Senior Management and colleagues in GSK Biologicals with respect to short-term decision making and long-term strategy
• Work closely with the Business Planning Manager to support him during the Annual Brand Planning process by acting as a liaison with the LOCs and the GVCoE commercial groups
• Align with and work closely with GVCoE commercial groups to ensure that their needs are met and that their expertise informs any relevant analysis
• Maintain effective GVCoE-LOC relationship to share results, learnings and best practice
• Work closely with GVCoE MR colleagues to ensure MR is optimally leveraged to inform commercial decision-making
• Develop in-depth understanding of the GSK Biologicals global activities and processes
• Interact effectively with the Knowledge Centre in India to maximize GVCoE analytical capabilities
• Work with Global Industrial Operations to establish effective 2-way communication so that GIO initiatives take commercial requirements into account, and GIO responds to commercial needs

• MBA (desirable) with at least 8-10 years of work experience in an analytical environment (ideally gained in a life sciences or management/strategy consultancy setting)
• High degree of creativity and innovation in developing new approaches and methodologies
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• High level of energy, enthusiasm and commitment
• Credible, with ability to work seamlessly in a global matrix environment, across a range of functions, seniority, and geography
• Commercial acumen in order to be able to confidently support, challenge and influence colleagues at headquarter and local level
• High level of comfort with MS Office applications (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
• Understanding of role of market research in developing Franchise area tactics and strategy
• Ability to manage multiple tasks/assignments to demanding deadlines with minimal supervision
