Candidates need to have exceptional technical skills with a PhD or equivalent. The Associate will grow into the Equity Risk role through direct involvement with the risk management and quantitative analysis functions of the group. Associates will be responsible for the risk management of investment portfolios and the development of state-of-the art analytical tools. Principal responsibilities: Understanding who the client is and what his/her investment objectives are Understanding how macro-economic factors drive the portfolio construction process Knowing the risks by thoroughly understanding all investment holdings Ensuring the risks are fully understood by portfolio managers and are consistent with client objectives Helping portfolio managers apply proprietary techniques for portfolio construction and alpha generation Supporting the creation, production and delivery of reports pertaining to Relative Value, Risk/Exposure and Performance Attribution Automating quality control checks on data and analytics Understanding, improving and documenting our processes |

The position requires outstanding technical, interpersonal, leadership and oral/written communication skills. Candidates are expected to hold First class degrees with a PhD or equivalent in Finance, quantitative finance, economics, econometrics or applied statistics Experience in Visual Basic, Matlab and/or SPlus Risk modelling experience Strong written/oral communication and outstanding interpersonal skills Highly organized, ability to adhere to tight deadlines, and flexibility in modelling (financial markets are always changing, and so are our models) |
