Principal or Senior Banker, Restructuring, M&S
The Manufacturing & Services Team (“M&S”) is responsible for EBRD’s investments in the manufacturing and services sector in all of the EBRD’s countries of operation. The team wishes to further strengthen its investment focus in this sector and is seeking to recruit a banker with proven transaction capability and strong experience with balance sheet restructurings of M&S sector companies.

The existing and target customers for the M&S sector projects include: (i) Western companies operating in the M&S sector, with plans for strategic investments, joint ventures, green/brown field projects in the Bank’s countries of operation; (ii) Local companies operating in these sectors, which have strong business fundamentals and a track record of good corporate governance, that require funding for modernisation, logistics, expansion etc; and (iii) State (public) enterprises undergoing privatisation.

The Banker will be responsible for making a contribution to the development and management of the Team’s project portfolio and will work throughout the whole project life cycle of the Bank. This will be accomplished through project origination, screening, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, preparation of documentation, monitoring and disposal (if applicable) of projects. At the Principal Banker level, they would be expected to gradually take responsibility for increasingly complex transactions. They would also further develop their project origination skills and should gain exposure to a variety of products and activities, including equity features. At the Senior Banker level, they will also be responsible for making a significant contribution to the development and management of the Team’s project portfolio, play a leading role in originating, structuring and closing transactions using the full range of financing structures and instruments available to the Bank, establishing high level sector contacts, conducting policy dialogue on sector / region issues as well as monitoring and managing the loans and investments. The Senior Banker will be capable of independently working; providing guidance to more junior colleagues and co-ordinating complex transactions.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
* Originate and execute new transactions, existing projects and proactively engage in the oversight of these projects
* Liaise and work with other departments, coordinating their involvement in the project as required
* Undertake marketing and project origination activities; identify good quality transactions meeting the Bank’s requirements
* Structure investment vehicles that are suitable for the investment objectives and strategy
* Review complex legal agreements
* Prepare and present initial and final review documents to the Operations Committee
* Review and own quality control of financial and other due diligence analysis
* Attend meetings of investors and represent the Bank accordingly, including investment committees and advisory boards
* Actively participate in the monitoring of investments including preparation of regular monitoring reports, managing client relationship, recommendation of disbursements, waivers etc and resolve issues
* Provide guidance and coaching to more junior bankers and analysts - becoming fully involved in the detailed processing work, as and when required.

* Broad range of experience in closing balance sheet restructuring transactions across the industries within the M&S sector coverage
* Good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education (e.g. business administration, economics, finance)
* Minimum of 7 years for the Principal Banker and 10+ years for the Senior Banker level, of relevant and commercial work experience (e.g. banking, finance, accounting, audit or project finance), gained from a major commercial/investment bank, equity fund, advisory services or corporate finance firm, where high-level banking/transaction skills would have been obtained
* Strong marketing and negotiation skills
* Proven business judgement and high ethical and professional standards
* Ability to manage and push through transactions to their conclusion, and demonstrable track record of project delivery
* Sound decision making and problem resolution skills
* Thorough understanding of credit, investment and financial analysis and competence in their application in investment decisions and transaction structuring
* Demonstrated leadership abilities while retaining ability to participate in teams
* Computer literacy, excellent spreadsheet skills
* Very good written and oral communication skills in English
* Work experience in the Bank’s countries of operation, specifically in Russia, Ukraine, the Caucasus, Balkans, Central Asia
* Proficiency in Russian will be an advantage.
* Ability to operate sensitively in multicultural environments and build effective working relations with clients and colleagues
* Ability to communicate effectively with senior government and business contacts
* Ability to plan and organise work unsupervised
* Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
* Willingness to travel to and work in EBRD countries of operation.
