An Investment Manager (IM) manages portfolios for a book of Affluent, High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth clients. These clients might include, amongst other client types, individuals, Corporates, Charities, Family Offices and Private Unit Trusts, from a wide variety of backgrounds whose relationship with Barclays Wealth is predominantly managed by a Private Banker. The primary focus for an Investment Manager is to provide their bankers and clients with excellent service and to create portfolios for them which provide the best risk adjusted returns after costs. The Investment Manager will work with the Private Bankers and Investment Advisors to attract clients to the Investment Management service set, building up a profitable book. The role holder will conduct client needs analysis, will present and recommend optimal portfolio solutions and will have responsibility for managing these portfolios within the framework of the BW Investment Policy and the compliance and regulatory environment in which we operate. All Investment Managers contribute to investment ideas generation and the building of standardised investment strategies which helps drive the scalability and consistency of service and experience that clients receive.
• Support bankers and Investment Advisors in attracting new clients to Investment Management’s services and retaining and growing existing BW client books. • Propose and manage multi asset class portfolios and support the wider IM team as required. • Implement, manage and administer these portfolios in a compliant, accurate and timely manner and in concert with the wider IM business to ensure consistency in client experience. • Construct and implement portfolios in line within agreed investment parameters and be tax-aware where applicable. • Demonstrate high quality of service to client base and stakeholders • Conduct comprehensive and thorough periodic portfolio reviews to ensure performance, portfolio content, asset allocation and objectives are in line with house view, client risk profile and defined requirements and give proactive advice to clients and bankers. • Ensure risk events, complaints, and sundry losses and procedural breaches are kept to a minimum-accuracy and thoroughness are pivotal to the effective management of portfolios. |

• Experience in managing multi asset class portfolios for private clients in a previous role. • Be able to demonstrate a full grasp of all investment asset classes and be able to employ them in portfolio construction optimally, within agreed parameters, restrictions and tax framework. • Be able to demonstrate strong investment performance and sales performance in growing a book of business • Experience in conducting presentations to a varied audience confidently and comfortably • Targets are stretching so flexibility, strong team focus and sales aptitude is required • Previous experience in adhering to external and internal regulatory frameworks • Familiarity with market information systems and technical systems with the likes of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Reuters and Bloomberg. • Confidence in dealing with people at various levels of the organisation, key stakeholders and clients with diverse needs and characteristics as this is a client-facing and sales role. It is crucial that the role holder has a thoroughly professional demeanour, is team – focussed, and has broad experience in managing private client multi asset class portfolios and a demonstrable ability to grow a book of assets. |
