NSOC System Administrator - Solaris/Unix
To provide proactive operational support as part of an extended Oracle team, working from our customers site. Liaising with and developing positive relationships with the customer and other Sun teams, to ensure that the Sun infrastructure is able to continuously meet or exceed the agreed SLA's.

Essential functions:
Proactive and reactive monitoring.
Initiating and implementing corrective actions prior to incidents occurring.
Implement corrective actions when incidents occur.
Reconfiguration of the Solaris operating system when major system changes e.g. New system components, occur; basic installation and configuration of disk systems with Solaris.
Provides administration of the Solaris operating system including the addition/deletion of users and understands and is able to maintain access rights to files and other system resources, can control and monitor root login.
Is able to design and develop basic shell scripts and has a good knowledge of UNIX commands and editors.
Provides onsite level 3 administration of the Sun environment, including proactive and reactive technical support, understands and complies with operational guidelines as defined by the Sun team and maintains operational records of all activities.
Works to ensure performance of the Sun environment is maintained in line with contract commitments and contributes to customer meetings and Sun team meetings as appropriate.

Experienced 3/4th Line System Support.

Worked with Sun hardware platforms from V440 to F25K.
Experience of Change Control practices.
Preferred Knowledge:


In-depth experience of UNIX infrastructure support and operation.
Experience of Sun Clustering.
