Due to internal progression, an excellent opportunity exists for a Management & Reporting Accountant to join the existing Accounting and Reporting function. This management accountant role is part of a team of 5 reporting to the Accounting Supervisor responsible for the accounting of the Head Office of Rio Tinto located at Paddington, London. Your main responsibilities will be as follows: Monthly •Maintain the cost models for functions reporting through the Rio Tinto London Limited (RTLL) ledger. Work through changes with the UK accounting team and the function managers or accountants. Analyse and report on issues arising from monthly reports. •Supervise the billing of time-based technical services and T&I project recharges. •Close the month end, through a sequence common to Rio's SAP users, confirming with colleagues as to their progress. Examine the output, and confirm variances from budgets (plans) prior to closure. •Reporting to Controller's for the RTLL ledger and SAP input for various international sites as well as supervision and follow up of the Intercompany reconciliation process. Quarterly •Report the position of the legal entity in a consolidated format, adjusting for IAS, and the requirements of Rio Tinto Controllers department. •Costing of share plans from data received from outsourced registrars. •Preparation and liaison with Controller's in the annual planning and quarterly re-forecasting processes. Input of a revised two year rolling plan into SAP. Ongoing •The building and maintenance of internal relationships between RTLL and functional finance contacts. •The review and clearance of SAP control accounts, conducted with the UK accounting team. Annually •Play a key role in the preparation of the annual statutory accounts production under UK GAAP (planning, preparation, completion and review) for Rio Tinto London Limited. This includes liaison with Tax, Secretarial and external auditors. |

· You will have a proven track record within an Accounting function (ideally within a large international company) where you have regularly been exposed to senior management. · You will have a thorough knowledge of accounting (UK GAAP and IFRS). · Relevant full accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.). · Excellent computer literacy - including practical knowledge of SAP and Excel. · Ability to work well with different departments and multiple business partners. · Autonomy and ability to work independently. · Energy, pragmatism, self-confidence, and a positive attitude, even when under pressure. · Solid communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. |
