Essential
1.Considerable experience commercial experience of web-based applications, preferably in a Unix environment
2.In-depth commercial experience in Java
3.A deep understanding of Object Oriented programming principals.
4.Intuitive understanding of computer and network architecture and operation, software performance trade-offs, and algorithm design
5.Experience in UML and technical specifications.
6.Be comfortable using source for complex branching and merging
7.Experience of XML based technologies and Web Services
8.Working knowledge of Servlets in Tomcat
9.Comfortable with JDBC, Synchronising with threads, serialisation, reflection.
10.Experience with JUnit, Javadocs, java build systems and load testing java systems
11.Good understanding of database design and PL/SQL
12.Experience with the Spring Framework
Desirable
1.Experience of Agile software development methods.
2.Experience in Perl or another scripting language in a unix-based environment.
3.Experience with and strong interest in distributed systems, fault-tolerant computing, databases, search engines.
4.Development experience in the mobile space.
