The department is a key part of the firm's corporate governance and its primary objectives are to review the firm's control environment and to perform SOX s.404 controls evaluation/testing on behalf of Nomura group senior management. Role / Principal Accountabilities:
• Conduct internal audits of all key business areas and support functions of Nomura in Europe. Planning,fieldwork, and reporting findings. Follow up of issues raised in reports. (c.70% of time). Focus will be on Investment Banking and European & Middle Eastern offices audits, but will include other areas of Nomura, including Asset Management.
• Carry out special projects, ad hoc investigations and advisory work. (c.10% of time)
• Develop ongoing working relationships to provide advice on control matters and update knowledge of business and internal developments generally (c. 10 % of time)
• Undertake overseas office visits, or liaison with other offices (c. 10% of time).
• Ensure assignments are managed to strict timetables and reports issued on a timely basis.
• Oversee, guide and support development of junior auditors within the function. |

• Broad base of post qualification audit experience
• High level of detailed product knowledge of Asset Management products.
• Must be confident and have strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Must demonstrate ability to influence and persuade auditees regarding control issues.
• Be able to take on project-based tasks and multi task.
Desirable:
• Preferably exposure to Corporate Finance businesses.
• Preferably first-hand experience of Sarbanes-Oxley work (but not a pure SOX specialist).
• Background knowledge of securities regulations.
• Technically sound across variety of disciples e.g. products, tax, accounting, regulatory, credit etc. |
