Provides medical leadership to Development Team and a wide therapeutic and product knowledge to internal and external customers People (40%) Driving excellence, resourcing and strategy across the Scientific Operations team Develops and coaches the Medical Development Advisors (MDAs) across all TAs, with the Medical Development Manager (MDM) and/or Medical Affairs Managers (MAM) Selects, recruits and retains high caliber staff (in consultation with the MDM/ MAM) Ultimately responsible for the resourcing and working practices of the MDAs across all TAs Responsible for the consistency and delivery of onboarding, start up training and on-coaching coaching (using appropriate resources available) Responsible for the delivery of development (promotions) of MDAs across all TAs in consultation with the MDM and MAM Has joint responsibility with the MDM or MAM (i.e. double solid reporting lines for the MDAs) to agree individual objectives, reviews progress, and provides feedback for appraisals/ratings etc. Drives innovation across TAs by sharing best in class across the TAs Drives cross-functional team working relationships across the Scientific Operations team Proactively inputs into the Medical Department Leadership Team (MDLT) and GMEC to ensures implementation of decisions Regularly attends field visits with MDAs to monitor capabilities and provide on the job coaching and support Brand 40% Leads and prioritizes the strategic plan and objectives for Scientific Operations & inputs into the Novartis strategic planning process, owning the overall MDA Plan Ensures consistency of communication, objectives, expectations, resourcing, reporting (SONIC) across all TA BF heads with regards to Scientific Operations as a whole Within each TA, agree with the MAM and BF head the overall brand objectives, metrics and how quantitative and qualitative will be collected and shared Ensures MDA/KOL advocacy is resourced and support Health Technology Appraisals Within each TA, agrees with the MAM and BF head how competitive intelligence will be gathered and shared to ensure advantage/differentiation for Novartis and its products Ensures brand teams and Health Care teams are familiar with WP11 and how MDAs operate Leads the MDA function to deliver on-going and future value to the business (e.g. ICRO initiatives to support trial delivery) Inputs into and attends relevant New Product Therapy Team meetings Customer (20% Manages RE, global, internal and external stakeholders Represents the UK CPO at RE/global events (for all TAs) and is the point of contact for RE and global Drives strong internal and external stakeholder management across all Medical Affairs TAs Leads good working interface with key internal and external stakeholders Supports the MAMs with the Medical/Marketing interface Acts as Sponsor and Contributor to relevant local and global business initiatives to ensure that Scientific Operations is seen as a ‘Best in Class’ |
