Responsible for: • Establishing, building and developing relationships with key stakeholders in-market and at the European region level. He or she has an understanding of the country political environment and healthcare structure. • All CPO external and internal communication, including interaction with relevant media contacts, shareholder and market communications, and implementation of company internal messages and communication plans. He/she has significant experience in communications and public relations roles, a keen understanding of Pharma communication needs, and excellent crisis management ability. A significant component of this strong communicator and influencer’s work comes in aligning CPO communications with global and regional communication strategy and planning. • Managing Corporate Projects
Major Activities • Foster, trust based working relationships with key regional and national regulatory stakeholders. • Establish, develop and coordinate CPO communication plans in-line with country and corporate strategic goals, and desired market position for key brands • Disseminate information to relevant public (marketable customers, regulators, shareholders) through appropriate use of the media • Increase positive awareness of Novartis, its mission and its public service efforts • Develop and coordinate all CPO country media events, including press releases, conferences, speeches, interviews, and special programs on the TV, radio and internet • Ensure consistency of Novartis brand and market position in external communications, by ensuring alignment at the BF, BU, and brand levels, and by putting in place necessary communication-control processes • Collaboratively manage the development and release of Novartis annual report, and manage other shareholder communications (such as analyst presentations) • Develop crisis-management communication planning, readiness, and response capabilities • Establish and manage relationships with Key Opinion Leaders in regulatory bodies, universities, and healthcare associations • Collaboratively develop internal communication strategy, along with the HR group, and plan and implement effective communication of key internal messages • Key interfaces include: CPO Head; HR Head; Legal Head; Finance Head, General Medicine/BU Heads, Medical Director; global Communication roles, Market Access Head. |

• University degree • Advanced degree in business, law, bioscience, or related field desirable • English • Mastery of CPO country language/s • Experience of the country political environment and healthcare structure. • Extensive experience (>10 years) in communications positions, including high-level involvement in media and shareholder relations • Significant experience in pharmaceutical industry communications positions, and excellent understanding of Pharma communication concerns regarding public, media, shareholder and employee relations • Experience in crisis management, and proven record of managing crises through effective communication channels • Demonstrated ability to influence high level media and analyst stakeholders • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Excellent persuasive ability |
