The Barclays Wealth Financial Crime team is located in 1 Churchill Place London and Glasgow, although working directly with Money Laundering Reporting Officers (MLROs) globally. The team's primary responsibilities are interpreting and implementing Anti Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions and Know Your Customer (KYC) policies, managing the subsequent controls and working closely with the Wealth businesses to provide direction and interpretation of regulatory requirements. The team’s role incorporates an operations and advisory element as well as ongoing support for training needs to the business. Management Information (MI) is used to track emerging patterns in areas of Financial Crime which is used to improve business processes and manage risks with the senior management and business heads. As a member of the BW Financial Crime team you will be required to, work closely with the Financial Crime Director, Compliance colleagues and business heads across Wealth to support the effective management of the Financial Crime agenda.
Core accountabilities Work with the head of Intelligence to build a flexible global financial crime intelligence capability for Barclays Wealth; drawing on both internal and external resources, to serve the Barclays Wealth MLRO designates/designated officers’ community and the various Wealth businesses, their relationship staff and senior management. Training and Development: assist with the development of the financial crime training and communications activity designed to increase the competence and awareness of the financial crime and business communities on a range of general and specialist topics to include the Financial Crime/AML training and communications for Wealth. Support the MLRO designates/designated officers globally with an appropriate range of tools to support their local financial crime training activities, including induction training to new joiners, cascade of new policies, and other. This to include training the trainers (the MLRO designates). Advisory Guidance: Provide Wealth businesses with a financial crime/AML advisory service on day-to-day Financial Crime risks and issues, with Incisive analytical ability to resolve and minimise regulatory risk issues Optimise the sourcing and use of intelligence for a range of financial crime prevention purposes, including the new client onboarding process, existing client monitoring, and risk assessing clients, markets and industries. Ensure Wealth has the optimum governance framework to support the evaluation and take-on of higher risk clients, e.g. through evaluation at regular new client take-on forums feeding into a higher level reputational/high risk client forum. Management Reporting: Ensure that Barclays Wealth leverage direct and indirect sources of intelligence within the wider IBIM cluster of businesses (with BarCap and BGI), and within the wider Barclays Group, and contribute to Group wide client intelligence. Achieve the optimum range and use of external data sources to facilitate day to day decision making on clients by the local MLRO designates, this may include sourcing additional data sources, and liaising with the relevant suppliers. Support the development and usage of Wealth’s financial crime related MI. Have a strong belief in the role of MI to bring financial crime/AML to life. |

The role holder will have a proven track record of competent assessment skills utilising information from both internal bank sources and external sources. Ability to prioritise and manage demanding workloads. First rate technical skills in international AML and Sanctions regulations. Understanding and working knowledge of MLRO responsibilities The candidate will be educated to degree level, or equivalent. A relevant business qualification such as Diploma in Financial Crime or AML is desirable. The suitable candidate will have the ability to execute and drive through new policies and projects. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to influence at all levels. The candidate will possess effective communication and presentation skills using a variety of styles to suit the situation. Demonstration of a proven track record of working to deadlines will be required, together with strong organizational skills and the ability and confidence to make business critical decisions. |
