Group wide, the Corporate Affairs Group comprises Human Resources and Business Services, Company Secretarial and Investor Relations, Finance, Business Improvement, Settlements and Taxation Divisions.
DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES The Group Financial Accounting team sits within the wider Finance function, supporting Macquarie’s UK and European based operations. The Group Financial Accounting team’s primary responsibility is the oversight of the statutory reporting and audit process for the Group’s UK subsidiaries. The other key role of the team is to provide technical guidance on an ad-hoc basis and to ensure all solutions are compliant with UK GAAP/ IFRS at transaction, statutory legal entity and group levels.
Other responsibilities include ongoing Balance Sheet and P&L analysis/management and working together with other Finance teams to ensure that reporting deliverables are achieved and any legal entity processes are consistent with internal Group policies. The team operates in a dynamic environment which needs to adapt its processes and solutions in light of changes in the reporting environment as well as business changes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Preparation of the year end financial statements for a number of UK legal entities, ensuring that audit deadlines are met Understanding the impact of transactions on legal entities from an accounting and tax perspective Assisting other accountants within the wider Finance Division, as required, from both a technical and practical perspective Liaising with external stakeholders of the Macquarie Group, where required Monitoring and reporting of the financial position and performance of key entities Providing ad-hoc reporting to the board and senior management, as required Assisting in the identification and implementation of key efficiency improvements Completion of ad-hoc project work Mentoring more junior members of the team |
