Cargill PLC is currently recruiting an Employment Lawyer in our Cobham, Surrey office. This role will primarily support Cargill UK operations and provide secondary support on EU employment related matters. The role will participate in the global employment lawyers' team and will report to and work closely with the Senior Employment Lawyer for EMEA. The Employment Lawyer will partner with Cargill HR and business mangers as well as legal colleagues.
Principal Accountabilities This role will be responsible for advising on all employment related matters affecting Cargill in the UK, including: general employment law matters such as issue resolution; disciplinary meetings; performance management; drafting policies, documents and agreements; investigations; preventative management; negotiating terminations; labour and union issues; standardising and reviewing Cargill's local employment policies; conducting and managing employment litigation; training Cargill's HR and managers in basic and new developments in employment law

Legal experience in employment law in the UK Active Law qualification in a UK jurisdiction Undergraduate degree with Upper Second Class at a minimum. Pragmatic and tactical approach in working with confidential and sensitive HR and business issues Ability to develop strong working relationships with HR, business managers, and legal colleagues Ability to demonstrate leadership and organizational courage in a wide range of complex and sometimes ambiguous situations Ability to manage competing demands with tight deadlines Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
Preferred Experience as an in-house employment lawyer (though lawyers in private practice with the right aptitude will be considered) Knowledge/experience of either EU institutions, legal process and legislation; or individual EU member states' legal systems
