– Role is for a Development Lead required to work on various applications for the Convertibles desk
– Candidate will be responsible for managing the London development and QA team of 4-5 people. Note that primary role is expected to be hands-on development rather then management.
– The role will be for working within a small local convertibles team which forms part of both a Global Convertibles team as well as more widely a Global Equities Derivative Technology team.
– The role will entail interacting directly with the business (incl. Sales and Trading) to gather and interpret requirements as well as developing and supporting the applications for that desk.
– The candidate is expected to be the primary contact for the business and be responsible for managing the relationship and expectations. This will require good interpersonal skills and it is desirable for the candidate to have some knowledge of Derivatives ideally in Convertible products.
– Deliveries will primarily be targeted towards the European Convertibles business with users in London and Switzerland. But being a truly global technology and business area, deliveries can occasionally be for other regions particularly APAC.
– Role would entail working on a portfolio of applications including Order Management, Analytics, Quote Management as well as an external web application.
– The developer should be use to working towards architecturally sound solutions, they must technically excel and be able to grasp and communicate complex concepts.
– They will be expected to interact with a number of development teams into which the team applications connect using a variety or technologies incl. MQ, RV, Fix, custom sockets.
– Candidate should have a proven experience of working within a global development team.
– Person must be able to operate effectively in a trading floor environment.
– Person must be able to accurately and pragmatically estimate development effort required for specific objectives. Proven experience of this is critical.

– Technical background should cover appropriate languages, Database, Middleware, Architecture design areas (Java, C#, flex, web technologies; Oracle, Sybase, SQL; Linux, Solaris; Tibco Rendezvous, EMS, MQ Series)
– Understand the monitory and time constraints of any work.
– Ensuring projects and deliverables are managed within strict budgetary guidelines
– Excellent project planning, estimation and control skills required.
