The Credit Policy Group in Europe was established in March 2002. The core objective of CPG is to enhance and improve the quality and consistency of Fitch’s ratings and to ensure that they are as prospective as possible. CPG enacts this role as a support to all of Fitch’s product groups. We aim to bring the attention of our product groups to new trends and developments in any of the areas in which Fitch rates entities and debt securities. This can be achieved through conventional credit measures such as financial ratios or market data. External research or commentary on credit trends might also be used to do this.
The product groups are responsible for Fitch’s ratings and criteria, although CPG might be invited to advise on them. Currently there are 6 members of CPG in London and 1 in Asia. Amongst the London team, 3 experienced professionals liaise with the main product areas. This role arises in response to the internal transfer of one of these professionals to one of Fitch’s product areas. It is expected that the person recruited will mainly liaise with the European non financial corporates ratings group.
Job Description The role primarily involves the preparation and distribution of regular and ad hoc reports and studies which are designed to assist the various product groups and CPG in their ongoing review of ratings at the portfolio level. The reports may be on a product, regional or global basis and the jobholder will be expected to provide commentary on any trends and outliers identified in the reports.
The successful candidate will be expected to present findings from reports to senior management within the Company. The ability to manipulate large quantities of data from various different sources is essential. In addition, CPG works closely with all of the product groups within Fitch and the role demands a timely response to ad hoc requests for data or reports from external groups. The role may also involve research on a macro level for time sensitive commentaries and reports produced by CPG.
It is expected that the jobholder will assist with the training and development of more junior members of the team.
