Continuous Improvement Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Global Combat Systems as a Continuous Improvement Manager based at Birtley. Reporting to the MASS Manufacturing Manager & working in conjunction with the Manufacturing teams, you will be responsible for optimising and improving the manufacturing processes and associated facilities to meet the program requirements. These must take into account factors such as Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery & People as well as Logistics, Process Flow, Inventory and Lead Times and be fully compatible with Process Specifications, SHE compliance & Company Governance. As a Continuous Improvement Manager your main responsibilities will involve:

To plan & implement Continuous Improvement projects by generating project charters & delivering these charters through the relevant teams.
To identify potential payback from projects & be capable of developing Business Cases for expenditure approval where required.
To drive Design for Manufacture methodology and liaison with resource users, influence the design process through the use of Best Practice & feed this back into the relevant teams, e.g. Engineering, Facilities or Purchasing.
Analysing results from audits, production data & process confirmation you must be able to identify underlying trends & manage the closure of these concerns.
Qualifications: Engineering Degree
Other Certification (NEBOSH)
Other Certification (Black Belt 6 Sigma)
Experience: 10 years +
Languages: English : Speak / Write Fluently

HND or Degree in Manufacturing or Production Engineering or similar with relevant experience
NEBOSH General Certificate
Black Belt 6 Sigma or similar would be advantageous
Knowledge of Project Management, Lean Methodology, Process Flow, Line Balancing, Kan Ban, MUDA,
Experience including: SMED, Takt Time, OEE, 5S, TPM, Costs Benefits Analysis & Project Payback, Value Stream Mapping, Pareto Analysis, Poke Yoke, SPC, Specification Writing, Contractor / Supplier Management, Interpersonal Communication, Risk Assessment.
Excellent presentation / facilitation skills are expected as a minimum, the ability to mentor individuals when required will also be a benefit.

The ideal candidate will need to be highly enthusiastic and self motivated, able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines in an ever changing environment. They must possess strong attention to detail and outstanding communication skills. The drafting of documents, reports and statistical information will be required; therefore good computer literacy is key.
