Compliance Manager
The purpose of the role is to act as the first contact point for a specific Business Unit (or transversal Function as required) within BNP Paribas Securities Services ("BNP Paribas") in the UK for advice, guidance and training in all regulatory matters; and provide Level 2 monitoring assurance to BNP Paribas management, clients, regulators & trustees/depositaries. The role also covers the development of compliance policy and the analysis of regulatory developments.

The Compliance department exists to provide compliance coverage for the business carried out from the offices of BNP Paribas maintained in London, Peterborough, Glasgow and Dundee and is responsible for ensuring that the staff of BNP Paribas understand and comply with relevant laws, regulations and compliance policies. The department forms part of the Compliance & Control Department which comprises Compliance, Business Continuity Management and Operational Risk & Permanent Control.

Key functions of the Compliance department include:
· development of policies, procedures and guidance that define the regulatory and internal standards and requirements that apply to BNP Paribas business
· provision of advice concerning interpretation of rules and policies as they apply to BNP Paribas businesses in general, and with regard to specific transactions
· provision of relevant training to business line and support staff on a variety of regulatory and conduct of business subjects

Key Responsibilities
· Monitoring - develop and perform regular compliance monitoring reviews to ensure the resilience of controls and that regulations applicable to the business are adhered to. Including:
- Production of reports for business consumption
- Discussion with business stakeholders on the outcomes
- Provision of monitoring status reports and MI to management
- Follow-up of outstanding compliance action points with the business
· Advice - encourage, support and contribute a positive compliance culture throughout BNP Paribas business units through the provision of assistance and advice to agreed timescales. Including:
- Attendance at business meetings as necessary
- Provision of support to business projects
- Maintenance of the compliance email mailbox for queries
· Training - support the BNP Paribas HR Training & Development Team in the development and delivery of the Compliance training plan. Including:
- Review and development of training material
- Presentation of compliance induction / ad-hoc compliance related training
· Policy - update and development of UK compliance policy is accordance with BNP Paribas corporate policy and regulatory requirements. Including:
- Management of review timetable
- Production of revised Policies for review by compliance management
- Co-ordination of issuance of Policies and appropriate education of the business as necessary.
· Regulatory change - identification, analysis and communication of changes to regulation. Including:
- Identification of changes in regulation
- Analysis of regulatory changes and relevance to BNP Paribas
- Communication to BNP Paribas business lines
- Provision of advice to business in relation regulatory changes

Technical Experience
Required:
· Experience of risk/compliance monitoring and reporting
· Knowledge of FSA Regulation, particularly SYSC, CASS, COLL & COBS
· Experience in the wholesale investment industry, with particular knowledge of Custody and Middle Office
· Communication and influencing skills
· Ability to work solo, under pressure and to strict deadlines
· Strong analytical skills, with a thorough and logical approach
· MS Word, MS Excel & MS Powerpoint

Desirable:
· Experience in Alternative investments, Hedge Funds, Principal & Agency lending
· Experience of policy development / advice in Financial Crime areas, in particular KYC / CDD, sanctions and transaction monitoring.
