Commercial/Procurement Contract Specialist
An exciting opportunity for a Commercial/Procurement Contract Specialist has arisen in our Surface Ships business unit based in Filton, Bristol. Reporting into the FSC Head of Procurement, the primary purpose of this role is to ensure that all FSC Assessment Contracts and Tenders for the D&M Phase are constructed to achieve the most advantageous terms to BAE Systems Surface Ships, whilst recognising the need to maintain constructive relationships and achieve Value for Money.

The role also involves ensuring that the Company's contractual position is protected with respect to these contracts throughout the lifecycle, while also delivering acceptable performance to respective stakeholders Support the customer/supplier relationships when there are three way interfaces, e.g. in the Power and Propulsion area.

As a Commercial/Procurement Contract Specialist your main responsibilities will involve:

Generating Terms and Conditions for Assessment phase studies / secondments and ensure these are aligned with the MoD head contract
Supporting the Studies Manager in negotiating Terms and Conditions for studies/secondments
Ensuring that resultant contracts comply with BAE Systems business and corporate guidance
Generating Ts & Cs for the early RFQ
Supporting the release of the early RFQs
Revising the Contract Packs developed above to support a formal Invitation to Tender
Supporting the release of the full ITT
Qualifications: Bachelors
Experience: 10 years +
Languages: English : Speak / Write Fluently

Degree or equivalent
Proven experience in Sub Contract Management in a senior managerial position
Experience of the design and development of naval ships, and the procurement of ship systems and equipment
Procurement qualifications at executive level obtained through membership of a relevant institute or equivalent within the Project or Commercial fraternity
Extensive experience in the negotiation and management of Major Sub Contracts from both the Naval sector and other aligned industries

The successful individual must have the ability to form and develop strategic alliances where appropriate to further the aims of the FSC Programme. Strong commitment and self motivation, good influencing/interpersonal skills with the ability to form strong relationships with customer and suppliers, good communication skills enabling commercial and technical discussions with customers, colleagues and suppliers. You must also have the ability to work constructively both within a team and across the whole project to ensure that team objectives are met.
