Commercial Analyst
The Commercial Analyst role sits in Chevron’s Strategy, Technology & Commercial Integration (ST&CI) department. ST&CI operates Chevron’s global trading business. Through its trading business units, ST&CI buys and sells barrels to feed the Chevron system while acting as stewards for core supply chain and price/credit risk management capabilities. The London office concentrates on physical trading for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, including US arbitrages. Trading in oil paper derivatives is also a core function.

Key Job Responsibilities for this position:
• Identify and analyse deal structures in support of positions for system requirements and trading
• Work closely with traders to provide short and medium term fundamental market view to support trading recommendations
• Support trading recommendations by using fundamental analysis, e.g. demand and supply factors, refinery and shipping data
• Development of technical (Excel/VBA etc) models to accurately reflect and predict market conditions and opportunities
• Participate as a key team member/lead in business development projects, e.g. storage, blending, new supplier agreements etc
• Integrate European perspective with those of global internal teams, e.g. other trading hubs and strategy groups
• Develop a network of contacts to enhance market intelligence
• Provide back up to other Commercial Analysts covering products, crude and LPG trading desks

• Educated to at least Bachelors degree (or equivalent) level, with Business, Finance or Engineering disciplines preferred
• A good understanding of relevant trading market and competitor data
• Strong knowledge and understanding of key aspects of international crude logistics , refinery economics, crude qualities and supply chain
• An understanding of system and market logistical parameters, business drivers, pricing and hedging instruments and economic models in support of trading profits
• Proven ability in leveraging technology to provide solutions, develop models and quantifying risks to support trading strategies
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
