Associate Head of Medical Affairs
In this high profile and varied role, you will be providing UK medical leadership to our Bone and Rheumatology medicines.As a senior member of our Medical Affairs team, you will have line management responsibility for team members, be a core member of the Medical Leadership team , become a registered Medical signatory, provide support to cross functional projects and have the opportunity to deputise for the Head of Medical Affairs. With line management responsibility for team members who may include Scientists, Pharmacists and Physicians you will focus on driving high performance by setting ambitious goals, providing advice and support, resolving issues and rewarding success. Through your leadership example you identify the appropriate ways of optimizing communication and maintaining engagement within your team. There will be a great deal of variety in this role, as you direct and coach the medical managers in their work. You will build strong working relationships cross-functionally with many departments such as Marketing, Health Economics, Development, Medical Information, Compliance, to devise and deliver medical strategies, support the marketing plans, review and certify materials, ensure the availability of medical data and opinion leader engagement. You will support your team to identify and build strong relationships with a network of opinion leaders and clinical investigators and work with them to manage advisory boards and plan clinical trials. Working in collaboration with Development colleagues you will help to shape the plans for products in phases II to IIIA to successfully enter the UK, ensuring every eligible patient is optimally treated with Roche's innovative products. You will also contribute to the design of IIIB and IV clinical trial and life cycle medical programmes, representing the UK's interests in the design of international trials and develop concepts into proposals.

Your medical knowledge and experience are the keys to your success in this role. You will be medically qualified and registered with the General Medical Council. You will have both clinical experience of treating patients in the NHS and Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical industry. Clinical expertise is crucial so you will have a detailed knowledge and understanding of your therapy areas plus an in-depth understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice and knowledge of the NHS environment. You will be skilled at assimilating, analysing and interpreting scientific data and have a high level of attention to detail. Your flair for conveying complex concepts concisely combined with your excellent presentation skills will enable you to translate and communicate that data. Combining your clinical understanding and commercial acumen will enable you to identify ways to position and market products and to advise on the design of clinical trials. Your excellent communication, inter-personal and team working skills will enable you to build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external customers including key opinion leaders and patient advocacy groups. With people management skills to build a high performing team, your organisational and planning skills and sense of urgency will enable you to prioritise and deliver results on time and budget.
